I was born in Port Elizabeth, but I am a Durbanite through and through. I’ve grown up with a very musical family. My dad used to sing for the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir, and when I was young, my gran introduced me to musicals and the piano. In 2006, at the tender age of 12, I realised that music was the path I wanted to follow and I set about auditioning for shows and learning to play the piano.

I have always loved to sing, but in my first big role in a school production, I fell in love with being on stage. I have performed in many school musicals, performed with both the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and the Durban City Orchestra and sung on the Barnyard Theatre and the Playhouse Opera Theatre stages for varying types of performances. I have a BA Hons degree in Music from UKZN, and my Grade 8 in Classical Piano with Trinity Guildhall. I started doing gigs professionally at age 21, and have since performed at weddings, garden parties, children’s parties, braais, in backyards and on rooftops.

At the age of 22 I was awarded the title Best Overall Vocalist at Talent Africa Nationals and was able to travel to New York to compete in Talent America where I placed 2nd in my age group. This incredible opportunity opened the doors for me to now be teaching class music at a Durban school. This means that I am balancing teaching and singing and directing, and I couldn’t be happier. Who wouldn’t want to listen to music and sing for a living?!

My Style

I love to sing many styles, so this is always a difficult thing to sum up. For now, I am a cover artist. I call my style Vintage Pop. I love singing anything that was popular in it’s time, or anything that is considered pop music now, but has a vintage flair. Some of the artists, among MANY, who ,inspire me are: Connie Francis; Brenda Lee; Peggy Lee; Christina Aguilera and Meghan Trainor.
